The Indonesia Tourism & Trade Investment Expo 2024 has kicked off in Batam, running from October 10 to 13 at Nagoya Hill Mall. The national event aims to spotlight investment prospects across tourism, creative industries, and local enterprises, bringing together stakeholders and potential investors.
As a platform to promote Indonesia’s diverse investment opportunities, the expo gathers participants from various regional agencies, offering insights into tourism, industry, and the creative economy. Key figures, including Ardiwinata, Head of Batam’s Tourism and Culture Office, underscored the event’s significance for economic growth.
The expo aims to attract investors and create awareness about potential opportunities in Batam and beyond. Agencies from across Indonesia, such as those from Bekasi, Palembang, and Lampung, are present to showcase their regions’ potential, highlighting the expo’s national importance.

Ardiwinata emphasized that the expo is not only about promoting travel destinations but also about fostering investment in creative industries. “We believe tourism is a key pillar of economic growth,” he stated, pointing to the sector’s 17 sub-fields as vital drivers for development.
Highlighting Batam’s role as a host, the event showcases both traditional and innovative business ventures, with a focus on creating competitive advantages for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The expo serves as a platform for local businesses to reach new markets and expand their networks.
Notably, Batam’s Class IIA Correctional Facility displayed handcrafted items made by inmates, such as wooden utensils and wall frames. The exhibit is part of a rehabilitation program designed to teach practical skills. Head of the facility, Fajar Teguh Wibowo, stressed that this initiative helps inmates contribute positively to the community.
