Natuna Geopark Collaborates with Three Indonesian Geoparks for International Tourism

The National Geopark Management Body of Natuna, in the Riau Islands, has forged partnerships with three other prominent Indonesian geoparks to enhance its international tourism appeal and foster sustainable development.


On September 24, 2024, during The 5th Regional Geoheritage Conference in Makassar, Natuna Geopark joined forces with Unesco Global Geopark Batur Bali, Geopark Kebumen, and Geopark Nasional Ranah Minang Silokek to enrich its international tourism appeal and promote sustainable practices within the region.


The agreement, undersigned by key representatives from each geopark, focuses on mutual development in education, training, conservation, and sustainable tourism, aiming to leverage each region’s unique geological features.


The collaboration will offer comprehensive educational programs and training, particularly focusing on human resource development to empower local communities and promote geo-conservation efforts.

A concerted effort will be made to enhance tourism through targeted marketing strategies and integrated planning, aiming to increase international visitors and recognize Natuna as a key player in the geo-tourism sector.


The partnership aims to empower local communities and youth through the Geopark Youth Forum (GYF), providing them with opportunities for involvement in conservation activities and benefiting from the economic growth spurred by geotourism.
