Tourism Malaysia Spotlights Premier Destinations at Batam Tourism Expo 2024

In an impressive display of regional cooperation, Tourism Malaysia intensified its promotional efforts by participating in the Batam Tourism Expo 2024, held at One Batam Mall from May 25 to 28, 2024. This initiative underlines Malaysia’s commitment to fostering cross-border tourism with Indonesia, leveraging Batam as a strategic hub.

The expo, organized by Insan Pariwisata Indonesia (IPI) and Batam’s Culture and Tourism Office, serves as a critical platform for enhancing tourism cooperation between Batam and its neighboring countries, particularly Malaysia.

Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia Medan, Pn. Yusnita Yusof, highlighted the unique attractions of Pulau Tioman and Cameron Highlands, promoting them under the theme “Romantic Weekend in Malaysia 2024.”

Yusnita emphasized the importance of the expo in promoting cross-border tourism, which serves as a mutual economic booster for both regions. She expressed hopes that the event would help reach a target of 27.3 million international tourists to Malaysia in 2024.

The event was used to launch several new packages, including houseboat experiences in Royal Belum and Tasik Kenyir, golf packages, and cultural and geological tours in Sarawak and Penang.

New attractions and shopping paradises like The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur and Sky Mirror in Selangor were introduced, aiming to attract diverse international visitors.

Yusnita urged the local community of Kepulauan Riau to visit the Malaysia Tourism booth at the expo to learn about the special travel packages and the cultural and culinary richness of Malaysia.

The initiative not only aims to enrich the travel experience but also to bolster the economies of both nations through increased tourist flow.
