Indonesia reaches eight gold medals, surpassing its seven-gold target with events still remaining.
Indonesia has already exceeded its main medal target at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games, with boccia delivering the decisive gold as the national contingent continues competing in Japan.
Eighth Gold Pushes Indonesia Beyond Target
Indonesia officially surpassed its pre-Games target of seven gold medals on October 21, reaching eight golds at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games. National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia Deputy Secretary-General Rima Ferdianto confirmed that the delegation had exceeded its goal while several medal opportunities remained.
Felix Delivers Milestone in Boccia
The eighth gold came from Felix Ardi Yudha, who defeated Thailand’s Phakphum Linchum 5-3 in the men’s individual BC2 boccia final at Nagoya City General Gymnasium. His victory made boccia one of Indonesia’s strongest contributors to the gold-medal tally.
Boccia Contributes Three Gold Medals
Indonesia has won three gold medals in boccia, with Felix joining Handayani, winner of the women’s individual BC1 event, and Gischa Zayana, who captured the women’s individual BC2 title. Their results accounted for more than a third of Indonesia’s eight gold medals at that point in the Games.
Swimming, Athletics and Cycling Add Five Golds
Indonesia’s other five gold medals came from three sports. Maulana Rifky Yavlanda won two titles in para-swimming, while I Kadek Dwi Purna Yasa and Karisma Evi Tiarani secured gold medals in para-athletics. Muhammad Fadli Imammuddin added another gold in para-cycling.
Medal Opportunities Still Remain
As of Wednesday evening, Indonesia had collected eight gold, six silver, and 19 bronze medals. Officials said the total could still rise, with competition continuing in athletics, swimming, para-badminton, and the boccia team event. Ferdianto said the delegation remained focused on adding further medals after surpassing its original target.
For Indonesians, surpassing the seven-gold target represents an important achievement for the national para-sports contingent while competition is still underway. For Singaporeans and other Southeast Asian sports followers, Indonesia’s performance adds another regional storyline to the 2026 Asian Para Games as athletes across Asia continue competing in Aichi-Nagoya.
