Pertamina Patra Niaga has initiated several strategies to mitigate the shortage of 3 kg LPG cylinders that have impacted parts of Batam, with specific focus on the Bengkong area. This sectoral scarcity has prompted the company to both organize market operations and increase the overall supply of gas cylinders to the region.
Pertamina has distributed over 4,400 subsidized gas cylinders through market operations at three strategic locations and has further boosted the cylinder supply by an additional 24,000 units to meet the community’s demands.
Bagus Handoko, Sales Area Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga for the Riau Islands Province, pointed out that the shortage is sectoral and not widespread across Batam. He identified several causes including the indiscipline at distribution points and potential mismanagement in the distribution chain.
Pertamina advises the public to refrain from panic buying and to purchase according to the regular schedule to help normalize the situation. The company ensures that the supply of LPG is secure and encourages orderly purchasing behaviors.
Pertamina is developing a new app designed to enhance monitoring of gas distribution, ensuring that the supply reaches its intended targets and to prevent misappropriation. Additionally, strict actions are promised against any distributors found violating distribution rules.
