BP Batam participated in the Medical Fair Asia 2024 in Singapore, showcasing the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for International Health Tourism in Batam. This zone, which is expected to attract investments worth Rp 6.91 trillion, aims to create over 100,000 job opportunities and features collaborations with Apollo Hospitals and Mayapada Group. The event served as a platform to introduce Batam as a standard-bearer for medical and tourism destinations internationally.
The Special Economic Zone in Batam, divided between Sekupang for health services and Nongsa for tourism, is designed to bolster Batam’s profile as a global destination for health and leisure. The participation in Medical Fair Asia 2024 aimed to attract international attention and investment.
The SEZ spans 47.17 hectares, with 23.10 hectares in Sekupang dedicated to integrated health tourism and 24.08 hectares in Nongsa for tourism. The total investment targeted by 2032 is expected to be Rp 6.91 trillion, potentially creating significant employment opportunities.

The zone is set to host facilities from renowned international health service providers such as Apollo Hospitals from India and the Mayapada Group, ensuring high standards in medical care and boosting Batam’s capability as a health tourism hub.
The development of this SEZ is projected to absorb up to 105,406 workers over the next 80 years, significantly impacting local employment and economic dynamics.
At Medical Fair Asia 2024, BP Batam’s representatives promoted the SEZ’s benefits and potential, aiming to secure further investments and partnerships that align with the zone’s long-term development goals.
