In a strategic move to enhance operational efficiency and passenger comfort, Batam’s ferry authorities have shifted extra international ferry trips from Batam Center to Sekupang International Port, starting from August 9, 2024.
The decision by the Port Authority of Batam to reroute extra international ferry trips to Sekupang International Port aims to alleviate congestion at Batam Center and improve passenger experiences during peak travel times.
The transfer has already seen a significant increase in passenger numbers at Sekupang, reaching 2,400 since the policy was implemented.

Sekupang Port is equipped with better facilities compared to other ports, contributing to smoother and faster processing of passengers and vessels.
Regular ferry services at Batam Center continue without changes, ensuring minimal disruption to daily commuters and travelers.
The diversion applies mainly to extra trips during weekends. It aims to distribute the traffic more evenly and ensure safety and comfort for all passengers.

The shift to Sekupang Port not only promises a more comfortable and efficient travel experience but also showcases Batam’s proactive approach to managing growing international transport demands. This strategic move is expected to enhance Batam’s connectivity with Singapore, promoting smoother cross-border travel.
Batam’s Sekupang International Port has become the new hub for additional international ferry services, previously managed by Batam Center, to enhance efficiency and comfort for travelers, particularly during peak periods. The transition, effective August 9, 2024, supports Batam’s vision to streamline operations and boost its role as a key player in regional maritime logistics.
