The disruption stemmed from issues at the National Data Center, managed by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which began affecting services on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Recovery efforts were completed by Monday, June 24, 2024.

During the downtime, services such as the M-Passport and Online Blocking System were temporarily unavailable, affecting travelers and immigration operations. All functionalities were restored by Sunday, June 23, 2024.

In response to the outage, data center operations were shifted within 12 hours after identifying the issues were likely due to a cyber attack. This proactive move was aimed at preventing further disruptions and expediting recovery.
