Batam Mayor Muhammad Rudi Calls for Collaboration to Foster Investment Climate

At the opening of the 10th Provincial-level Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an and Hadith (MTQH) in Batam, Kepulauan Riau, Mayor Muhammad Rudi urged all regional components to collaborate in preserving a conducive investment climate. This appeal aims to continue the positive economic trajectory of Batam.

During a warmly received speech at the MTQH event held at the Pacific Hotel, Muhammad Rudi outlined the strategic development priorities for Batam which have been instrumental in its economic resurgence post-COVID-19 pandemic.

Highlighting five development priorities directed by President Joko Widodo, Rudi discussed initiatives ranging from licensing system improvements to major infrastructure projects including Terminal 2 at Hang Nadim International Airport and the development of Batam’s main road infrastructure.

The mayor emphasized the role of these projects in not only advancing Batam but also benefiting the broader Kepri Province, reflecting the interconnectedness of the region’s economies.

Rudi’s administration has been marked by significant economic achievements, with Batam’s economy seeing a robust recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, growing 4.75% in 2022 after a contraction of 2.55% in 2020, and continuing to rise to 7.04% in 2023.

The strategic programs initiated by BP Batam and the Batam City Government have been crucial in enabling a swift recovery and continued economic growth, showcasing effective governance and resilience.
