In a remarkable stride toward sustainability, Singapore plans to open its first ‘zero energy’ hotel by 2028. Named Hotel Indigo Changi Airport, this innovative establishment will be located at Terminal 2 of Changi Airport.

Singapore is leading the charge in reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, with Hotel Indigo Changi Airport set to become the country’s first zero energy hotel. Situated above the bus station at the southern end of Terminal 2, this seven-storey marvel will feature 255 rooms, a rooftop day club, a bar, and an infinity pool offering scenic views of the runway.

The hotel will leverage solar panels, a hybrid cooling system, naturally ventilated corridors, and rainwater harvesting technology for energy efficiency. Greenery will span across all seven floors, blending seamlessly into the hotel’s eco-friendly architecture.

Accessible through a sky bridge, the hotel will be strategically placed for transit passengers and international travellers. It is set to become the third hotel at Changi Airport, joining YOTELAIR at Jewel Changi and Crowne Plaza Changi at Terminal 3.

In the first quarter of 2024, 16.5 million passengers travelled through Changi Airport, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. Foreign visitor arrivals to Singapore soared by 115% to 13.6 million in 2023.

The ambitious project comes as Changi Airport plans to reclaim its title of World’s Best Airport, a position it lost to Hamad International Airport in Doha at the Skytrax World Airport Awards. Hotel Indigo Changi Airport aims to cater to the increasing number of eco-conscious travellers.
