The Lingga Regency Government is set to open a direct maritime route from Batam to Benan, enhancing access and boosting tourism potential in the region.
In response to the demands of local tourism associations and the need for improved access, Bupati Lingga, M Nizar, has instructed the immediate opening of a direct ferry route between Batam and Benan, which is set to stimulate travel and economic activity in the area.
The new route is anticipated to greatly enhance the tourism sector in Kepri by providing easier access to Benan’s attractions, including its beautiful resorts and local culture.

Previously, reaching Benan involved complex travel arrangements, including a requirement to charter vessels with a minimum of 24 passengers, which limited accessibility and discouraged potential visitors.
The direct route is expected to lower travel costs and stimulate economic benefits for local communities, potentially transforming Benan into a more attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists.
In addition to the new ferry service, local infrastructure enhancements are likely as part of broader efforts to support increased tourist inflow and improve the overall visitor experience.

For Singaporeans and international visitors, this new route offers a more accessible and appealing travel option, underscoring the region’s commitment to enhancing its tourist infrastructure and economic prospects.
The upcoming direct ferry route between Batam and Benan is set to enhance the accessibility of the beautiful island of Benan, promoting tourism and economic growth in the Kepri region, and providing new opportunities for business and leisure travelers alike.
