British singer Ed Sheeran’s recent solo concert at Jakarta International Stadium on March 2, 2024, was facilitated by a new visa type called the Music Performer Visa. This initiative, unveiled by the Directorate General of Immigration (Dirjen Imigrasi) Silmy Karim, is designed specifically for international musicians and their crews performing in Indonesia, streamlining the entry process and setting the stage for Indonesia as a prime destination for international music events.
The Music Performer Visa marks a significant step towards simplifying the bureaucratic process for international artists performing in Indonesia. By eliminating the need for work permits and other documentation, this visa aims to attract more global music acts to Indonesian stages, enhancing the country’s status as a key player in the international music scene.
The Music Performer Visa is divided into two categories: C7A for artists and musicians, and C7B for their crew, simplifying entry requirements and focusing on short-term activities without competing with local musicians.

The visa is part of a broader strategy to promote Indonesia as a destination for international music festivals and concerts, with the hope of boosting tourism and foreign exchange earnings.
The visa application process is streamlined through the e-visa.imigrasi.go.id website, allowing concert organizers and music promoters to easily sponsor international acts for performances in Indonesia.
The introduction of the Music Performer Visa has already facilitated the performances of renowned international acts such as Coldplay, K-Pop group Twice, and the Jonas Brothers, showcasing Indonesia’s commitment in supporting cultural exchange and entertainment.
