“Discover Indonesia” Shines at Hong Kong International Film & TV Market

In a landmark collaboration, the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), along with the Jakarta Creative Economy and Tourism Office (Disparekraf), Jakarta Film Week (JFW), the Indonesian Film Producers Association (APROFI), and industry stakeholders, have successfully launched the “Discover Indonesia” country pavilion at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) for the first time. This initiative aims to showcase the richness and diversity of Indonesia’s film industry to the global audience.

The “Discover Indonesia” pavilion at FILMART, taking place from March 11-14, 2024, in Hong Kong, highlights Indonesia’s creative, innovative, and impactful contributions to the global film industry. With 15 production house delegations and two film festival delegations participating, Indonesia aims to position itself as a leader in the Asian entertainment content market.

The theme “Discover Indonesia” was chosen to reflect the country’s vast cultural wealth and the innovative spirit of its film industry, aiming to inspire and make a positive impact globally.

FILMART serves as Asia’s premier cross-media, cross-genre entertainment content market, making it an ideal platform for Indonesia to promote its film industry and seek international collaboration opportunities.

The Indonesian pavilion will host networking hours and talk shows, facilitating interactions between Indonesian production houses and their international counterparts, and discussing Indonesia’s film industry and location-based production assets.

Support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology emphasizes the importance of co-productions and inviting foreign filmmakers to engage in various projects in Indonesia, enhancing the country’s international film sector presence.

The Cultural Endowment Fund program by Kemendikbudristek, aimed at supporting cultural practitioners through Indonesiana, further underscores the government’s commitment to promoting Indonesian culture and arts on the global stage.

The “Discover Indonesia” pavilion at FILMART represents a significant step towards enhancing the visibility and appreciation of Indonesian cinema worldwide.
