The delegation, led by BNN RI Chief, Marthinus Hukom, S.I.K., M.Si., engaged in vital discussions with Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of National Development.
The meeting highlighted the global narcotics trafficking developments in Southeast Asia, emphasizing the critical need for cross-border cooperation given the region’s role as a transit point for international drug syndicates.
Mapping the narcotics distribution network was a key focus, aiming to identify relevant elements in both Singapore and Indonesia. Hukom highlighted the financial interconnections and transnational drug trafficking implications.
BNN RI proposed direct communication between the National Narcotics Agency Provinces (BNNP) and Singapore officials. Despite the decline in narcotics use in Singapore, collaboration remains crucial.
The discussion opened avenues for broader cooperation, including joint training and operations across sea, land, and air, to eradicate drug trafficking.
BNN RI appreciated Singapore’s effective narcotics testing methods using saliva, capable of blocking drug dealers within 24 hours.
