Within the next four years, Indonesia is set to introduce a groundbreaking mode of transportation with the launch of the Vela Alpha flying car. A collaborative effort between PT Dirgantara Indonesia and Vela Aero, the Vela Alpha is currently in the final stages of development, poised to redefine urban mobility.
The Vela Alpha flying car project is advancing towards finalization, with ongoing flight certification processes by both the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States.
Targeted to enter service by the end of 2028, the Vela Alpha is anticipated to be priced between USD 1.5-2 million (SGD 2,010,000 to SGD 2,680,000) , approximately IDR 23.3-31.1 billion, offering a cost-effective and efficient solution compared to light helicopters in its class.

Developed as a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) fleet, the Vela Alpha features eight battery packs for full electric operation, with a hybrid engine option for extended ranges up to 500 km.
Accommodating up to four passengers, the Vela Alpha promises to significantly reduce travel times. For instance, a journey from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Jakarta’s SCBD could be completed in just 8 minutes.
PT Dirgantara Indonesia, in collaboration with Vela Aero, is responsible for the production, prototyping, and testing phases, ensuring the Vela Alpha meets the highest standards of innovation and sustainability.
