APPRI Elects Sari Soegondo as Chairperson, Aims to Strengthen PR Profession and Industry Relations

Following the election of Sari Soegondo as the General Chairperson for the Indonesian Public Relations Company Association (APPRI) for the 2024-2027 term in early January 2024, APPRI has announced a new leadership team comprising 17 representatives from local Public Relations (PR) firms across Jakarta and Bali. This new management aims to prioritize the strengthening of PR consultants’ competencies and the enhancement of industry relations. The goal is to ensure clients and partners are well-informed of best practices and fully benefit from the professional services offered by domestic PR consultants.

Under the new leadership, APPRI is set to implement a work program focused on professional competency enhancement and industry relationship strengthening. This approach involves legal and ethical aspects, research and development, as well as education and training to support the PR profession in Indonesia.

The APPRI management, a blend of senior and young consultants from established and emerging PR firms, embodies a spirit of collaboration aimed at complementing each other’s work and solidifying unity among members.

APPRI plans to continue successful programs from previous terms, such as ‘APPRI Connect’, ‘APPRIentice’, and ‘APPRI Young Squad’, while introducing new initiatives to further support the PR industry’s growth.

Efforts will be made to conduct comprehensive market studies, develop collaboration guidelines with opinion leaders and industry leaders, reform success measurement guidelines based on the Association for Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC) framework, and launch a competition and award program.

A significant new initiative includes the push for the establishment of the Indonesian Public Relations Forum, a collective umbrella covering all PR organizations and practitioners, showcasing APPRI’s commitment to advancing the profession.

APPRI’s agenda also addresses the need for PR practices to be more innovative, integrated with other work areas, and sustainable, recognizing the strategic role of communication and public relations in national development towards a golden Indonesia by 2045.
