In 2023, Batam, part of the Riau Islands province in Indonesia, experienced substantial growth across six key industries, driven by foreign investment inflows.
BP Batam reports that the industries experiencing significant growth include: housing, industrial estates, and office spaces; rubber and plastics; transportation, warehouses, and telecommunications; trade and repair; construction; and miscellaneous services.
The housing, industrial estates, and office spaces sector saw a 38% increase in investment, reaching Rp 608 billion (approximately SGD 52.4M), while the rubber and plastics sector grew by 175% with a realization value of Rp 554.46 billion (approximately SGD 47.8M) in 2023.
Transportation, warehouses, and telecommunications sector witnessed a remarkable 241.1% growth, with investment totaling Rp 414.81 billion (approximately SGD 35.7M), along with notable increases in trade and repair, construction, and miscellaneous services.
