Batam’s Game Developer community took part in the Global Game Jam, a simultaneous worldwide game creation event. With full support from Infinite Learning, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Politeknik Negeri Batam, and the Indonesian Game Association, this event encouraged innovation, collaboration, and creativity among young and talented game developers.
The Global Game Jam took place from January 26 to 28, 2024, challenging participants to create games within 36 hours with the theme “Make Me Laugh.” This event is designed to promote innovation and collaboration among emerging game developers.
The event’s opening featured Ir. Rizki Handayani Mustafa, MBTM, Deputy for Industry and Investment at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, who provided motivation and encouragement to the participants.
Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage and talented individuals were showcased as the event aimed to be a stepping stone for Batam’s developers to gain international recognition.
On January 28, Infinite Learning invited representatives from the gaming industry, including Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), Ubisoft, and Lightspeed Studios (Tencent), to review the final game projects and provide feedback to the participants.
The event not only demonstrated the skills of game developers but also served as a platform to strengthen networks, share knowledge, and inspire the next generation of game creators.
