Batam Prepares for Increased Passenger Traffic During Christmas and New Year Holidays

In anticipation of the Christmas and New Year’s travel rush, PT Pelni in Batam has expanded its fleet with the addition of KM Dorolonda to ensure smooth passenger transportation.

PT Pelni Batam is bolstering its fleet to manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, ensuring safe and efficient travel for commuters.

KM Dorolonda will join the Batam fleet on December 18 to assist with the transportation of passengers to Belawan and Jakarta, operating on a rotating schedule with other vessels.

The peak travel period is anticipated around December 19 and 22, with tickets already sold out for these dates. PT Pelni plans to offer additional non-seat tickets to accommodate more passengers.

Batam City officials, including the Mayor, are coordinating efforts across various sectors to ensure a smooth and safe holiday travel experience, prioritizing passenger safety and enforcing capacity limits on vessels.

Preparations include ensuring sufficient life jackets on board, monitoring weather conditions, and enforcing strict capacity limits even with dispensations.
