In a significant move, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s state-owned oil and natural gas corporation, announced a decrease in non-subsidized fuel prices in Batam, making it the most affordable region in the Kepri Archipelago for fuel.
The adjustment, effective from November 1, 2023, comes after a similar reduction in October, underscoring Batam’s position as a Free Trade Zone with consistently lower fuel rates than other areas in the province.
The revised rates in Kepulauan Riau include Pertamax at Rp 14,300, Pertamax Turbo at Rp 16,100, Dexlite at Rp 17,650, and Pertamina Dex at Rp 18,450.
Fuel prices in Batam’s Free Trade Zone (FTZ) are notably lower, with Pertamax at Rp 13,100, Pertamax Turbo at Rp 14,600, Dexlite at Rp 16,100, and Pertamina Dex at Rp 16,800.

In comparison, Riau and Jambi also witnessed price revisions. Riau’s prices match those in Kepulauan Riau, whereas Jambi offers Pertamax at Rp 14,000, Pertamax Turbo at Rp 15,800, Dexlite at Rp 17,300, and Pertamina Dex at Rp 18,100.
As a state-owned enterprise, Pertamina is committed to ensuring the availability, accessibility, affordability, acceptability, and sustainability of fuel supplies across Indonesia, including remote areas.
The new pricing structure is aligned with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2023, revising previous regulations on non-subsidized fuel price formulations.
The fuel price reduction in Batam potentially impacts travel and transportation costs positively. The change benefits local consumers, travelers, and the broader economy, marking a positive shift in regional fuel economics.
PT Pertamina has announced a reduction in non-subsidized fuel prices in Batam, Kepri. The decrease, making fuel in Batam the cheapest in the Kepri Archipelago, is in line with adjustments in international oil prices and Indonesia’s policy on fuel pricing.
