In a recent address, the Culture and Tourism Department of Batam City emphasized the significance of the Batam Creative Festival in showcasing the city’s vast potential in the creative economy and tourism.

Batam City, located in the Riau Archipelago, has been actively positioning itself as a key tourist destination, further evident from its ongoing infrastructure projects.

Batam Creative Festival is more than just an event. It offers various attractions, including a culinary bazaar, exhibitions, competitions, and performances, highlighting 17 sub-sectors of the creative economy.

Batam’s commitment to tourism is undeniable. With an expanding infrastructure, the city boasts a comprehensive range of amenities such as 241 hotels, 1,037 restaurants, shopping centers, and a plethora of natural, cultural, and man-made attractions.

Susanna, the Chairperson of the National Creative Movement (Gekrafs) in Batam, emphasized that the festival aligns with the National Creative Economy Day. She highlighted the festival’s aim to focus on local talents, hoping to garner national and international attention.

The theme for the event is “Local Pride”. The emphasis is on uncovering the creative economic potential of the Indonesian archipelago, specifically in Batam.

Gekrafs Batam organizes this festival annually. It’s a collaborative space for 17 sub-sectors of the creative economy, ranging from app development, architecture, visual communication design to arts and media.

For Singaporeans and international tourists, Batam Creative Festival is a testament to Batam’s ever-growing appeal. It offers a unique experience that combines culture, creativity, and commerce.
