Batam hosts global manufacturing expo featuring 200 brands and smart factory technologies.

Batam is hosting the inaugural local edition of two electronics manufacturing and smart factory exhibitions, bringing international technology providers together with local industries as the city seeks to strengthen its position in Indonesia’s manufacturing sector.

More Than 200 Technology Brands Gather in Batam
Electronics Manufacturing Expo (EMAX) Indonesia 2026 and Batam Smart Manufacturing & Automation Expo (BMAX) 2026 are being held from October 28 to 30 at Radisson Golf & Convention Center Batam. The inaugural event is expected to feature more than 200 technology brands representing over 100 companies and attract more than 4,000 trade visitors from Indonesia and surrounding markets.

Global Technology Companies Showcase New Solutions
Participating companies are presenting technologies for electronics production, semiconductors, industrial automation, inspection and testing, machine vision, digitalization, energy management, and smart manufacturing. Confirmed international brands include SICK, Nikon, ABB, ViTrox, Beckhoff, Advantech, Schneider Electric, Cognex, and Epicor. Technology participants also come from countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and China.

Batam Chosen for Its Manufacturing Base
Fireworks Trade Media Group CEO Kenny Yong said Batam was selected because of the city’s growing manufacturing sector and potential in the electronics industry. Similar exhibitions have previously been organized in Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines, while the 2026 event marks the first edition held in Batam. Organizers hope the exhibition can help companies improve production capability and strengthen workforce skills as technology continues to develop.

Manufacturing Drives More Than Half of Batam Economy
Suhar, Batam’s Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs, representing Mayor Amsakar Achmad, said manufacturing contributes approximately 57.8% of the city’s regional economy. He emphasized that technological advancement should be accompanied by greater productivity and stronger international competitiveness among local industries.

City Supports Annual Technology Exhibition
Both organizers and the Batam city government want the exhibition to return annually with broader international participation. Suhar said the city supports making the event a yearly agenda because it provides a platform for exchanging technological information, expanding business networks, and connecting manufacturers with technology providers. The program also includes conferences, technical presentations, workshops, seminars, and an electronics hand-soldering competition.

EMAX Indonesia and BMAX 2026 bring international manufacturing technology directly into one of Indonesia’s major industrial cities while providing local companies with access to new production and automation solutions. For Indonesians, the event highlights Batam’s significant manufacturing base and its effort to strengthen industrial competitiveness. For Singaporeans, participation by technology providers from Singapore and Batam’s growing electronics sector underline the continuing industrial connections developing across the region.
