Bedok, Bukit Panjang and Tiong Bahru-Redhill join Toa Payoh in a nationwide push to help seniors age well at home.
Singapore is extending its Age Well Neighbourhood model from Toa Payoh to three more estates, pairing social care and health services with safer streets and senior-friendly homes so older residents can age in place.
Age Well Neighbourhoods And National Programme
The Government has designated Bedok, Bukit Panjang and Tiong Bahru‑Redhill as new Age Well Neighbourhoods, adding to the existing site in Toa Payoh under the Age Well SG national programme, led by the Ministries of Health, National Development and Transport to help seniors age well in their homes and communities.
Key Components: AACs, HPC+, CHPs And Infrastructure
Each AWN will see enhancements in four pillars: Active Ageing Centres and their satellite touchpoints, expanded Home Personal Care services under HPC+, community health posts staffed by nurse-led health teams, and senior-friendly infrastructure such as safer streets, better access and supportive public spaces.
Toa Payoh’s Expanded Active Ageing Network
In Toa Payoh, three new AAC touchpoints will open by December 2026 and another four by March 2027, bringing the total number of AACs and touchpoints in the town to 16, making it easier for seniors to access activities, social support and referrals within walking distance.
Stronger Home And Community Health Support
From the second half of 2026, Touch Community Services will expand HPC+ in Toa Payoh to provide more comprehensive and timely home-based care for frail seniors, while three enhanced NHG Health community health posts that began in January 2026 will continue offering chronic disease management, medication reviews and other nurse-led services close to where seniors live.
Safer Streets And Senior-Friendly Town Design
Physical upgrades in Toa Payoh will continue through the second half of 2028, including an additional Friendly Street with slower traffic, longer and more frequent green man times and raised crossings, lifts on three overhead bridges linking to the Toa Payoh Integrated Development, subsidised senior-friendly fittings in 37 HDB blocks under MND’s Enhancement for Active Seniors, and a new sensory garden at Block 149 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh by 2027.
The expansion of Age Well Neighbourhoods and Toa Payoh’s concrete upgrades show how Singapore is knitting together health, social care and urban design so seniors can stay active, supported and safe in familiar estates. For Indonesians, it offers a model of integrating housing and eldercare; for Singaporeans, it signals more accessible services and safer environments that will matter as families age together in dense heartland towns.
