A Singaporean boy’s death in a Johor car accident sparks grief and calls for help
A seven-year-old boy from Singapore tragically lost his life in a car accident in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on March 16. The accident also left his father and domestic helper severely injured, prompting a local football school to raise funds for the family’s mounting medical and funeral costs.
The fatal accident occurred along Jalan Pantai when a lorry collided with a Singapore-registered car. The boy, Noah, was ejected from the car and succumbed to his injuries the following day. The crash also injured his father and domestic helper. A local football academy is now raising funds to support the grieving family.
On March 16, a devastating car accident in Johor claimed the life of seven-year-old Noah Saliqin Mohamad Khairuz. While traveling with his family, the car he was in collided with a lorry on Jalan Pantai. Noah was thrown from the car and tragically passed away in the hospital on March 17. His mother and younger sister sustained minor injuries, but the loss of their beloved son and brother is a heartbreaking blow.

Father and Domestic Helper Face Serious Injuries
Noah’s father, Mohamad Khairuz Bahrawi, and the family’s domestic helper, Lina Yulianti, both suffered significant injuries in the crash. They are now facing long-term rehabilitation, and the family is burdened with mounting medical bills, along with the funeral costs for their young son. The grief-stricken mother is also juggling the emotional toll of her son’s death while caring for her hospitalized husband.
Support from the Football Community
Noah was an avid football fan and had even planned to join a local Singapore-based football school. The school, Soaring Dreams FA, is now stepping in to support the family during this difficult time. The school, which Noah’s cousins were once part of, has organized a charity event on March 30 at Yio Chu Kang Secondary School to raise funds for the family. The event will include a “kickabout” and a PayNow QR code for donations.
Noah’s love for football was shared by his entire family, and it was his dream to join the Soaring Dreams FA academy. Tragically, he never had the chance to fulfill this wish. The school’s founder expressed his sorrow, stating that it was a loss not just for the family, but for the football community as well. The academy is also planning to gift Noah’s family a custom jersey in his memory.
The driver of the lorry, I. Muniandy, has been charged with driving under the influence of methamphetamine, which led to the accident. Police reports confirmed that Muniandy, who had no driving license and whose vehicle’s road tax had expired, will face charges for causing Noah’s death and the injuries of the other victims. The case is still ongoing, with the driver pleading not guilty.
The death of Noah and the serious injuries suffered by his family members have left the community in shock. As the investigation unfolds, the family continues to grieve and face financial challenges. The football academy’s efforts to raise funds will play a critical role in helping them through this difficult period, underscoring the solidarity and support that communities can offer in times of crisis.
