Collaboration aims to enhance renewable energy efficiency, investment strategies, and system stability through AI.

Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU Singapore) has entered a strategic partnership with Chinese photovoltaic (PV) giant Trinasolar to develop AI-powered smart energy storage solutions. The collaboration seeks to enhance investment decisions, improve energy grid stability, and advance intelligent energy optimization techniques. The initiative, led by NTU’s Energy Research Institute (ERI@N), aligns with the global expansion of solar, wind, and hydrogen energy sources.

As nations accelerate their transition to renewable energy, energy storage systems (ESS) play a pivotal role in stabilizing power grids, ensuring efficiency, and maximizing investment returns. The partnership between NTU Singapore and Trinasolar is a milestone in AI-driven energy innovation, focusing on cutting-edge AI forecasting, optimization, and smart grid technologies.

Revolutionizing Renewable Energy with AI

NTU Singapore and Trinasolar are spearheading AI-powered energy storage advancements to tackle the challenges of fluctuating renewable energy output. By integrating intelligent forecasting models, the initiative aims to predict energy demand, enhance storage efficiency, and optimize distribution networks. These AI-driven tools will aid investors in making data-backed decisions, ensuring smoother adoption of green energy.

The partnership is being guided by ERI@N, with a focus on refining energy consumption models and developing AI tools for real-time energy management. NTU Associate Professor Xu Yan, who serves as Cluster Director of Smart Grids and Microgrids at ERI@N, will lead research efforts. The collaboration also supports Singapore’s broader goal of energy resilience, reinforcing government-led efforts to integrate renewables into national grids.
