Police urge driver involved in multi-car collision near KSL City Mall to come forward.
A black Audi convertible with a Singapore-registered license plate was involved in a multi-vehicle collision outside KSL City Mall in Johor Bahru (JB) on the evening of February 25. The driver of the Audi reportedly fled the scene, leaving authorities searching for those responsible. The crash involved five cars, including a Proton Persona and a Volkswagen, with significant damage visible in photos and videos circulating online. The Johor Bahru police have urged the driver involved in the accident to step forward for further investigation.
The accident took place around 7:15 PM on February 25 along Jalan Serigala, a road leading toward Jalan Dato Sulaiman. The black Audi collided with a Proton Persona before losing control and crashing into three other vehicles parked along the roadside. Photos of the aftermath showed the Audi’s front bumper severely damaged, airbags deployed, and debris scattered across the area.

Eyewitnesses reported that a young woman in her 20s was seen exiting the Audi with the help of passers-by. She appeared dazed but managed to stand on her own. Shortly after, she hurriedly left the scene with a dog in her arms, accompanied by a male passenger who later returned to retrieve her bag. Many onlookers were shocked as the driver did not stay behind to provide details to the authorities.
The police confirmed in a February 26 statement that no serious injuries were reported among the motorists involved. However, the Audi driver had not yet filed a police report, raising concerns about possible violations of Malaysian traffic laws. Authorities have called for the driver to present themselves at the Johor Bahru Police Headquarters for further questioning.
Videos posted on Facebook and YouTube captured the chaos after the crash, with bystanders rushing to help the Audi driver. In one clip, an eyewitness claimed that the driver appeared intoxicated, although this has not been officially confirmed by police. He added that he had attempted to engage the handbrake and shut down the car’s power to prevent further incidents but was allegedly met with hostility from the driver.
One of the most severely impacted vehicles was a Volkswagen that had been pushed onto a footpath due to the force of the impact. Two other parked cars also sustained damage, though to a lesser extent. The situation created heavy congestion around KSL City Mall as police worked to clear the wreckage.
Under Malaysian law, fleeing the scene of an accident without filing a police report can lead to legal consequences, including fines and potential driving restrictions. The incident has sparked online discussions, with netizens debating whether stricter measures should be implemented to monitor foreign-registered vehicles traveling in Malaysia.
This high-profile incident raises concerns about road safety and driver accountability, particularly involving foreign-registered vehicles in Malaysia. The absence of the Audi driver at the crash site has intensified speculation and prompted calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws. As authorities continue their search for the driver, the case serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and post-accident protocols.
