Over 47 health clinics in Johor to be upgraded with S$9 million investment from Malaysia’s government.

The Malaysian federal government has allocated S$9 million (RM30 million) to upgrade 47 health clinics in Johor this year. The project includes infrastructure enhancements and the replacement of outdated medical equipment. The tender process will commence in March, and completion is expected by October 2025.

The initiative was announced by Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon on January 18, 2025. The RM30 million (S$9 million) budget has been approved to improve healthcare facilities across the state.

Ling made the announcement during the launch of the Locker4U 2025 Project and UMP Service Initiative, attended by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi. He emphasized that the upgrades will enhance patient experience while ensuring clinics remain fully functional for public healthcare services.

47 Clinics Identified for Urgent Upgrades

A total of 47 outdated and dilapidated health clinics in Johor have been identified for modernization. These facilities will undergo renovations, including improved infrastructure, new medical equipment, and better patient amenities.

The tendering process for construction and procurement will begin in March 2025, with work expected to be completed by October. Authorities aim to expedite the process to minimize disruptions to healthcare services.

Three Clinics Already Near Completion

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has pledged to donate ambulances to the newly upgraded clinics, ensuring faster emergency response times for patients in rural and suburban areas.

No Health Facilities Affected by Recent Floods

Ling confirmed that recent floods across five districts in Johor had no impact on healthcare services. All clinics and hospitals remained operational, with no damage to facilities reported.

The clinic upgrades reflect Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare in Johor. With increased funding and modernization efforts, both locals and visitors to Johor will benefit from improved medical services. Singaporean visitors, many of whom seek affordable healthcare in Malaysia, may find better-equipped clinics and faster medical services once the upgrades are complete.
