Collaborative Efforts Aim to Shape Batam as Indonesia’s Exemplary Modern City

 

Batam’s Mayor, Muhammad Rudi, called for unity among citizens and regional leaders to complete transformative infrastructure projects and establish Batam as a leading urban hub by 2030. Speaking at a farewell ceremony for naval commanders on January 3, 2025, he emphasized collaboration as the cornerstone of progress.

 

At the farewell and welcome ceremony for Lantamal IV Commanders held at Wyndham Panbil Batam on January 3, 2025, Mayor Muhammad Rudi outlined his ambitious vision for Batam’s transformation. The event celebrated outgoing naval commander Rear Admiral TNI Tjatur Soniarto and welcomed his successor Rear Admiral TNI Berkat Widjanarko. Rudi highlighted key infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing Batam’s status as a regional economic and tourism hub.

 

Mayor Rudi emphasized the importance of maintaining synergy among Batam’s regional leadership forum (Forkopimda) and the public to ensure the success of ongoing projects.

Vision for 2030 Completion

Rudi projected the completion of major infrastructure projects by 2030, including:

 

– Hang Nadim International Airport
– Batuampar Port Modernization
– Citywide Road Infrastructure Enhancements

 

These projects aim to establish Batam as an exemplary city in Indonesia.

 

The mayor expressed gratitude to Rear Admiral TNI Tjatur Soniarto for fostering strong cooperation during his tenure, which significantly contributed to Batam’s growth.

 

Rudi welcomed Rear Admiral TNI Berkat Widjanarko, encouraging continued collaboration to further the city’s development goals. The new naval commander acknowledged the warm reception and pledged commitment to his role.
