The Batam City Government is maximizing the role of the Tim Pencegahan Penanganan Kekerasan (TPPK) to prevent violence and bullying in schools. Acting Mayor of Batam, Andi Agung, emphasized the importance of creating a safe and welcoming learning environment for children during a training session aimed at enhancing the role of TPPK in schools.
The Batam City Government, in collaboration with the Regional Child Protection Commission (KPAID), launched a comprehensive training program for teachers, aiming to establish child-friendly schools across the city. The program, Training of Teacher (ToT) for TPPK, was introduced to enhance the capabilities of teachers in managing violence and bullying incidents in educational settings.
Andi Agung highlighted the need for every educational institution in Batam to optimize the role of TPPK in tackling issues related to violence, ensuring schools remain a safe environment for students. “We must ensure that bullying and violence are dealt with effectively to protect students,” said Agung.

The training session, held at SMAN 3 Batam, focused on equipping teachers with the skills to mediate and resolve conflicts peacefully. This initiative aims to prevent violence at an early stage and ensure that children receive the support they need within the school system.
Erry Syahrial, the head of KPAID Batam, stated that while the issue of violence and bullying persists in several schools, the introduction of TPPK and enhanced teacher training will help curb such incidents. He stressed the importance of mediation in addressing school conflicts.
The Batam government, in cooperation with KPAID, intends to create a supportive and nurturing environment where every student feels safe. The TPPK is expected to play a crucial role in identifying and addressing issues before they escalate into more serious problems.
