BP Batam Officially Hands Over New Homes in Tanjung Banon to Rempang Residents

On Wednesday morning, BP Batam successfully handed over newly constructed residences to the first three Rempang families in Tanjung Banon, marking a significant step in the Rempang Eco-City project aimed at regional development and community support.


The handover ceremony in Tanjung Banon featured traditional rites and was attended by key figures from BP Batam and local government officials. This event not only symbolizes a new beginning for the relocated families but also reinforces the government’s commitment to sustainable urban development and community welfare.


The event was marked by a traditional ‘tepuung tawar’ ceremony, symbolizing a purified start in their new homes for residents Rantau, Winarto, and Angga, who were among the first to volunteer for relocation in September 2023.


Acting Head of BP Batam, Purwiyanto, expressed gratitude towards the residents for their support of the government’s initiatives and highlighted the collaborative efforts necessary for the success of the Rempang Eco-City project.


Purwiyanto outlined the four essential collaboration pillars: the community, government agencies, private sector (MEG), and international investors, emphasizing their synergy for successful regional development.

Resident Rantau expressed deep gratitude towards the BP Batam officials for their support throughout the relocation process. This community feedback underscores the importance of ensuring resident welfare in urban development projects.


The relocation to Tanjung Banon is set to continue in phases, with 202 families already moved. BP Batam remains committed to facilitating these transitions smoothly, aiming to enhance the quality of life and economic opportunities for the Rempang community.
