The Transportation Department (Dishub) of Batam, located in the Riau Islands, is inviting residents to utilize a new service named “Sistem Informasi Derek” (SIDEREK), launched in August this year. The system is designed to assist the public in accessing information about their towed vehicles due to improper parking.

Ade Chandra, Head of Traffic Monitoring and Enforcement at Dishub Batam, highlighted that SIDEREK aims to mitigate the uncertainties faced by residents when their vehicles are towed. The system provides an easy-to-use platform for residents to check the status of their towed vehicles online through the official Dishub Batam website.

The SIDEREK service ensures that residents can verify the status of their towed vehicles without the need to report to the police mistakenly. It addresses the issue where vehicles remain unclaimed in Dishub’s holding area for days due to lack of information.

Previously, reports of illegally parked vehicles had to be submitted through WhatsApp numbers of department heads. With SIDEREK, such reports can be made more efficiently and structured, allowing faster response and handling by Dishub.

SIDEREK also supports adherence to Local Regulation Number 3 of 2018 concerning Parking Management and Retribution, aiming to enhance public awareness about the importance of obeying parking rules and maintaining traffic order in Batam.

Dishub Batam encourages the community to actively use SIDEREK for reporting and hopes it reduces confusion and miscommunication between the public and the authorities.

SIDEREK represents a significant step forward in leveraging technology to improve urban management and public service in Batam. By providing a direct, accessible means for residents to manage and understand towing issues, Dishub Batam hopes to foster a more regulated and compliant urban environment.

Dishub Batam has launched SIDEREK, a new online system to help residents check the status of their towed vehicles and report illegal parking. This initiative is part of efforts to improve parking management and encourage public participation in maintaining traffic discipline in the city.
