The Tanjungpinang Immigration Office has officially charged six Vietnamese nationals with serious immigration offenses, highlighting ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws rigorously.
In a significant operation by the Class I TPI Tanjungpinang Immigration Office, six individuals from Vietnam have been detained and charged with violating Indonesia’s Immigration Act, raising concerns about visa misuse and its consequences.
The individuals, identified only by their initials NVM, LTT, HNC, LN, HVD, and DHD, are accused of engaging in activities that do not align with the permissions granted by their visas. They face penalties, including a maximum of five years in prison and fines up to IDR 500 million (approximately SGD 41,500).
Their arrest followed a community report of suspicious activity in Kijang, Bintan, leading to an investigation and subsequent apprehension on June 13, 2024. The suspects allegedly engaged in unauthorized employment, including manufacturing fishing equipment and assisting in ship repairs.

The case files have been forwarded to the State Prosecutor’s Office in Bintan as the legal process moves forward. The ongoing investigations emphasize the Indonesian government’s commitment to upholding immigration laws.
