Batam’s Local Government Proposes Increased Budget Targets for 2024, Reaching SGD 13.5 Million

The Batam City Council (DPRD) is currently reviewing significant budgetary amendments proposed by Mayor Muhammad Rudi for the 2024 fiscal year, which include raising financial targets and expanding public expenditure by SGD 13.5 million.

In response to evolving economic conditions, the Batam City Government has submitted a proposal to the local council to revise the city’s financial targets and budget allocations for 2024, involving an increase of SGD 13.5 million. This revision includes adjustments in local revenue targets and spending to better align with the city’s development goals.

The initial revenue target for the city was increased from approximately SGD 0.28 billion to SGD 0.30 billion, reflecting an anticipated improvement in local economic activity.

Adjustments include a proposed increase in the financial receipts sector from approximately SGD 7.9 million to SGD 9.6 million, a move aimed at covering the costs of increased governmental activities.

The proposed changes will affect various budget allocations, including a notable increase in capital expenditure and modifications to the unforeseen expenses budget, altogether amounting to an increase of SGD 13.5 million.
