A drug raid in northern Singapore has raised serious child welfare concerns after narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered inside a home shared by a young couple and their two small children.

Couple Arrested in Marsiling
A 25-year-old Singaporean man and 24-year-old Singaporean woman were arrested after Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers raided a residential unit near Marsiling Lane in the early hours of August 11, 2026. Authorities are investigating the couple for suspected drug-related offenses, including allegedly exposing their children to drugs.

Drugs Found Where Children Were Present
CNB officers seized small quantities of cannabis, methamphetamine, also known as Ice, and Ecstasy, along with drug paraphernalia from different parts of the home. Some items were discovered in the master bedroom, where the couple’s three-year-old son and seven-month-old baby were present.

Children Placed With Relatives
Authorities made arrangements to protect the welfare of both children following the raid, and the boys were subsequently placed in the care of their next of kin. Photographs released by CNB showed officers caring for the children during the operation.

CNB Warns Drug Abuse Affects Families
CNB stressed that the consequences of drug abuse can extend beyond users to their families and loved ones, particularly young children. Superintendent Xanthus Tong said the agency would take firm enforcement action against people who expose children to drugs and urged parents to protect them from drug-related harm.

Adults Can Face Prosecution
Under Singapore law, a person aged 21 or older can be prosecuted for exposing a child to controlled drugs or drug paraphernalia. Adults may also face prosecution if they permit or fail to take reasonable measures to prevent a young person from consuming controlled drugs.

The Marsiling raid demonstrates the wider consequences that suspected drug activity can have on families. While investigations into the couple continue, Singapore authorities have emphasized that exposing children to controlled drugs or drug paraphernalia can lead to prosecution and that children’s welfare remains a central concern in such cases.
