The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has intensified its fight against the escalating issue of online gambling by forming a strategic alliance with Interpol.

Amid growing concerns over online gambling, the Indonesian National Police has embarked on a collaborative effort with Interpol. This partnership aims to curb the pervasive spread of illegal online betting activities that have plagued communities across Indonesia.

Irjen Krishna Murti, Head of International Relations Division at Polri, disclosed details about a recent high-level meeting with Interpol held in Laos, focusing on transnational crime and specifically on online gambling issues.

The collaboration primarily seeks to enhance the exchange of critical information between Polri and Interpol, aiding in the identification, tracking, and apprehension of online gambling operators within Indonesia.

Krishna highlighted the involvement of numerous Indonesians in online gambling operations across Southeast Asia, emphasizing the urgency and necessity of this international cooperation to effectively address the issue.

In efforts to prevent Indonesians from working illegally as gambling operators abroad, Polri has implemented several measures including passport revocation and travel bans for individuals suspected of engaging in such activities.
