DHL Global Forwarding, a shipping and logistics specialist within the DHL Group, has officially launched the Batam EV Center of Excellence. Vincent Yong, President Director of DHL Global Forwarding Indonesia, heralded the center as Asia’s first logistics hub dedicated to electric vehicles (EV), positioned to significantly bolster the EV industry’s burgeoning ecosystem in the region.
Situated strategically in Batam, close to the manufacturing and trade activities of the Asia Pacific, the EV Center of Excellence marks a pivotal step towards integrating and enhancing the EV supply chain within Indonesia and beyond. This initiative aligns with Indonesia’s ambitions to become a global EV battery producer by 2027, leveraging the country’s rich nickel and cobalt resources.
The Batam EV Center of Excellence is poised to address the gap in the EV ecosystem, providing specialized logistics services including warehousing with value-added services like inspection and battery charging, as well as post-sales battery handling.

Its strategic location offers unmatched connectivity to global markets, facilitated by Batam’s Free Trade Zone and Special Economic Zone statuses, optimizing operational efficiency for DHL’s clients.
