The Batam International Hang Nadim Airport is set to enhance its international connectivity with the introduction of new flight routes to Kuala Lumpur, Vietnam, Thailand, and South Korea. This strategic move, announced by PT Bandara Internasional Batam (BIB), aims to attract more international tourists and promote Batam’s progress on the global stage.
In a bid to bolster tourism and stimulate economic growth, Batam is expanding its international flight offerings. The addition of routes to Kuala Lumpur has already been confirmed, with plans to introduce flights to Thailand and Vietnam in April and June 2024, respectively. A route from South Korea, operated by Jeju Air, is scheduled to begin in July 2024, marking a significant step towards increasing Batam’s appeal as a tourist destination and investment hub.
The initiative begins with the existing Batam-Kuala Lumpur route, setting the stage for the upcoming direct flights to Vietnam and Thailand, scheduled for April and June 2024, respectively.

July 2024 will mark the start of flights from South Korea to Batam, operated by Jeju Air, reflecting the island’s growing appeal as a tourist destination and a hub for international business.
These developments are in line with BP Batam’s commitment to promoting Batam’s economic growth and supporting the local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), thus revitalizing the community’s economy.
The expansion aligns with the Indonesian government’s goal to position Batam as a premier investment destination, leveraging its strategic location and burgeoning investment opportunities.

Ongoing preparations include bilateral agreements with South Korea to enhance air transport links, demonstrating Batam’s proactive approach in fostering international relations and aviation rights.
