Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs has outlined an ambitious plan to boost investment in Batam throughout 2024, recognizing the city’s substantial potential to drive national economic growth.
Amid a backdrop of national economic expansion, Batam emerges as a focal point for Indonesia’s investment efforts, especially with projects like Rempang Eco-City driving growth.
Data from the Ministry of Investment reveals that non-Java regions, including Batam, have dominated investment realizations in 2023, totaling IDR 730.8 trillion out of the national figure of IDR 1,418.9 trillion.

The investment in non-Java regions, including Batam, marked a 14.8% increase from 2022’s IDR 636.3 trillion, underscoring Batam’s growing significance in national economic dynamics.
Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, has set a specific investment growth target for Batam at IDR 40 trillion for 2024, following a notable 17.5% growth in 2023.
Susiwijono emphasized the importance of high investment growth for positive economic impact, highlighting the need for continuous regional potential maximization.
