In a shocking revelation, the Batam Police have arrested a 43-year-old housewife, identified as LA, for committing an elaborate online shop investment fraud, swindling her neighbor out of Rp 400 million.

The case unfolded in the Sei Harapan area of Sekupang, Batam, where LA enticed her neighbor, TS, into investing in a seemingly lucrative online shop business, promising a 10% return and the return of the initial capital.

LA’s scheme involved luring her neighbor with the promise of profitable investment in an online shop, leading to a transfer of Rp 400 million in stages.

Despite assurances, the victim, TS, neither received the promised profits nor the return of her initial investment, leading to a police complaint.

Upon investigation, the police found evidence of criminal activity and arrested LA at her residence.

LA confessed to using the money for daily expenses and other undisclosed ventures, following a pattern of ‘robbing Peter to pay Paul.’
