In a significant move to bolster tourism, Sandiaga Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, has highlighted Batam’s pivotal role as a conduit to 20 major cities, including Indonesia’s top priority destinations.
Batam has been identified as a strategic entry point for international tourists, particularly from Singapore, aiming to explore Indonesia’s rich and diverse tourist spots. The city’s geographic location and infrastructure make it an ideal hub for redirecting tourists to other priority areas such as Mandalika, Bali, and Yogyakarta.
Batam’s geographical advantage near Singapore positions it as a funnel, drawing in a significant portion of Singapore’s tourist flow. With an ambitious target to attract millions, Batam stands to significantly impact tourist distribution across Indonesia.
