Barelang Police Prepares for Secure Christmas and New Year Celebrations with Inter-Sectoral Coordination

In anticipation of the 2023-2024 Christmas and New Year festivities, the Barelang Regional Police conducted an inter-sectoral coordination meeting via Zoom. The meeting, led by Kombes Pol. Ulami Sudjaja, S.H. of the Kepri Regional Police, was held to discuss and plan security measures for the upcoming holiday season.

The meeting, held in the third-floor meeting room of the Barelang Regional Police Headquarters, was attended by key representatives from various sectors including the BMKG, industry and trade departments, health, tourism, religious affairs, search and rescue, military, and police units. The focus was on ensuring a safe and secure environment for the holiday season.

Kompol Zainal Abidin Christopher Tamba, S.H. of the Barelang Regional Police, emphasized the need for local police chiefs to establish command posts in their respective areas. The health department was urged to have ambulances on standby at these integrated posts.

The Batam Military Command stressed the importance of home security during the holiday exodus, advising residents to inform neighborhood authorities about their travel plans to ensure the security of their homes.

The Batam City Tourism Department mentioned their coordination with the intelligence unit of the Barelang Regional Police for New Year’s Eve celebrations at Dataran Engku Putri, emphasizing the need for a strong police presence due to the expected large crowds.

AKBP Syafrudin Semidang Sakti, S.I.K., M.H., the Deputy Chief of the Barelang Regional Police, underscored the importance of each related agency preparing personnel to secure ports, airports, and other crowded places during the holiday season.

There was a call for enhanced coordination and synergy to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the 2023-2024 holiday celebrations. A full-dress rehearsal is planned for December 21, 2023, to finalize the establishment of security, service, and integrated posts, equipped with the necessary facilities and infrastructure.
