The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) has strengthened its maritime patrol fleet with the launch of two 28-meter fast patrol boats at Pt. Citra Shipyard in Sagulung, Batam, marking a significant step in securing Indonesia’s territorial waters.
This strategic move by TNI AL aims to bolster its presence in the Banyuangi and Pulau Nias regions, enhancing Indonesia’s capacity to patrol and secure its vast maritime borders.
The two newly launched vessels, named Sembulungan and Hinako, are equipped with advanced features including a 28-meter length, a speed of 28 Knots, and the capability to carry 15 personnel.

Designed for versatility, these boats are well-equipped for various operational missions, including infiltration, exfiltration, and Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, thereby increasing the Navy’s operational readiness.
Admiral Muhammad Ali, the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, emphasized the role of these vessels in the strategic plan of TNI AL, ensuring law enforcement and security in Indonesian waters.
The boats’ names, Sembulungan and Hinako, are derived from prominent geographical features in Banyuangi and Nias, symbolizing the Navy’s close ties with the nation’s maritime heritage.
