Batam-based PaxOcean Group unveils a self-elevating platform vessel, SEP CP-16001, primed for offshore wind turbine installation in Japan.
This significant launch showcases the capabilities of PaxOcean, one of Indonesia’s largest shipyards with other establishments in Singapore and China, as it hands over the sophisticated vessel to Japan’s Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd.
The SEP CP-16001, a GustoMSC-designed offshore wind turbine installation vessel, is slated for operations in Japanese waters, standing as a testament to Indo-Japanese collaboration in the renewable energy sector.
With impressive features like the Huisman heavy-lift crane boasting a 130m boom length and a 1,600-ton lift capacity, the vessel is equipped to handle turbines of up to 10MW-12MW.
The vessel’s design, accounting for deep water operations up to 50 meters and challenging weather conditions, accentuates safety, efficiency, and precision in its operations.
Low Soon Teck, Executive Vice Chairman of PaxOcean, expressed immense pride in the vessel’s delivery, highlighting its significance not only for the company but for Indonesia’s contribution to the renewable energy industry.
In the coming months, the SEP CP-16001 will play a pivotal role in the wind power project in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, signaling a more substantial push for offshore wind energy in the region.
