Customs officers, in collaboration with the Tanjungpinang City Police, apprehended a passenger at the Sri Bintan Pura International Port in Tanjungpinang for smuggling approximately 10,000 ecstasy pills from Malaysia.

Tri Hartana, the Head of Tanjungpinang Customs, highlighted that the arrest was a result of a joint effort between customs and the police.

The customs officers were initially conducting routine surveillance of passengers’ belongings arriving at the Sri Bintan Pura port from Stulang Laut, Malaysia on Sunday, 17th September.

During an X-Ray inspection, officials identified a suspicious package wrapped in a snack plastic bag. This package belonged to a female passenger identified by the initials AG, aged 32.

Upon further examination, authorities found that the snack bags contained ecstasy pills mixed with almonds. In total, 10,027 ecstasy pills were discovered.

The female passenger was then escorted for a more comprehensive investigation concerning the smuggling attempt. The customs then coordinated their efforts with the Tanjungpinang City Police for further action.
