The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensure that the nation does not become a hotspot for international criminal activities.

Following the repatriation of 153 Chinese nationals suspected of “love scamming” in Batam, Riau Islands, high-ranking police officials expressed their dedication to uprooting any international crimes within their jurisdiction.

Kadiv Hubinter Polri, Irjen Krishna Murti, stated that foreign criminals targeting Indonesia are on their radar and would be brought to justice.

He emphasized the police’s continuous efforts in identifying and resolving any international crimes occurring within Indonesia, stressing the importance of its global image.

Murti warned of the reputational risks for Indonesia if such crimes were left unchecked, suggesting it might become known as a safe haven for international criminals.

Earlier, these 153 Chinese nationals had been sent back to their homeland via Hang Nadim International Airport, Batam, Riau Islands. Murti disclosed that these suspects came from two separate police operations: 132 from Polda Kepri and 21 from Polda Kalimantan Barat.

The repatriation involves using three planes from China, escorted by a sizable 300-strong Chinese police personnel contingent.

This news is a reassuring testament to Indonesia’s dedication to maintaining security and upholding law and order. By clamping down on international crimes, Indonesia not only preserves its national integrity but also assures its neighbors and tourists of a safe environment, enhancing its appeal as a travel destination.
