Karimun, a regency in Indonesia, has set an ambitious target for its 2024 Regional Budget (APBD), aiming to rake in a staggering Rp1,420.96 trillion in revenue.

This revenue target represents a substantial increase compared to the initial projection outlined in the 2024 Draft Regional Budget and Financial Plan (Rancangan KUA dan PPAS), which stood at Rp1,274.96 trillion.

“The regional revenue target for the 2024 APBD draft has seen a significant boost compared to the figures outlined in the 2024 Draft Regional Budget and Financial Plan,” explained Bupati Karimun, Aunur Rafiq, following the presentation of the introductory financial statement for the 2024 Karimun APBD on September 13.

Aunur Rafiq disclosed that the projected regional revenue for 2024 is set at Rp1,391.96 trillion, while regional expenditure is targeted at Rp1,420.96 trillion. This signifies an increase in expenditure targets when compared to the 2024 Draft Regional Budget and Financial Plan, which had set expenditures at Rp1,303.96 trillion.

Looking at the structure of revenue and spending, there is a deficit of Rp27.5 billion in the 2024 APBD draft.

To cover this deficit, the Bupati revealed that Rp29 billion in financing will be sourced entirely from the surplus in budget calculations from the previous year.

Bupati Aunur Rafiq further explained that the remaining surplus, amounting to Rp1.5 billion, will be allocated for financing expenses, with an equal sum projected as an equity injection into the Karimun People’s Credit Bank (PD Bank Perkreditan Rakyat).

The robust economic aspirations of Karimun in 2024 could have ripple effects in the region, potentially opening up investment opportunities and trade prospects for neighboring Singapore and attracting international visitors interested in economic developments.

Karimun’s 2024 APBD sets an ambitious revenue target of Rp1,420.96 trillion, marking a significant increase from the initial projection. The budget also includes an expenditure increase and a deficit of Rp27.5 billion, to be covered by a surplus from the previous year’s budget calculations. This financial plan may have implications for regional economic growth and international interests.
