Polibatam, the renowned technical institution in Batam, collaboratively hosts an insightful workshop with 20 local Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), shedding light on modern digital inventory practices.

Under the banner “From Clicks to Control,” the Community Service Activity organized by the Department of Management and Business at Polibatam, specifically the International Trade and Logistics Study Program and the D2 Fast Distribution Track, took place in Batam’s Lecture Building Tower A.

Dian Mulyaningtyas SSi MT, the keynote speaker, emphasized the pivotal role of inventory management for businesses. She tackled the challenges of the Inventory Dilemma, underlining the importance of timely restocking, appropriate ordering, and warehouse management.

Mia Syafrina SPd MSi discussed the diversity in inventory management methods. She alerted SMEs of the repercussions of incorrect inventory management strategies, which could compromise product quality and the company’s reputation.

Fandy Bestario Harlan ST MMT introduced the ABC Analysis, a tool that prioritizes items in inventory management. SMEs practiced analyzing three key raw materials for their production and subsequently learned how to rank these materials for optimal storage.

Adhitomo Wirawan SST MBA showcased the digital application “Stock and Inventory Simple” for Android. This tool simplifies inventory tracking, warehouse management, and data collection, offering features like manual and data import, visual aids through images, product management, and barcode scanning.

The workshop’s participants, consisting of SME representatives, displayed an enthusiastic response. They conveyed hopes for continuous support from Polibatam, especially in the provision of inventory management applications tailored for SMEs. Additionally, students from the LPI were actively involved in organizing and overseeing the event, gaining invaluable experience.

The workshop signifies a promising move towards digital transformation in the region, hinting at a streamlined business operation for SMEs. For Singaporeans and international visitors, this may result in more efficient service from Batam-based SMEs, potentially promoting stronger business ties and fostering collaboration across borders.
