Claude developer strengthens Southeast Asian presence as Singapore ranks among its most active markets.
Anthropic is expanding its Asia-Pacific footprint with a new Singapore office, adding local leadership and hiring as demand for its Claude artificial intelligence models grows across the region.
Singapore Becomes Anthropic’s Fifth APAC Office
Artificial intelligence company Anthropic will open an office in Singapore in October 2026, making it the company’s fifth location in the Asia-Pacific region after Tokyo, Bengaluru, Seoul, and Sydney. Anthropic said the expansion responds to business demand for Claude and will allow the company to work directly with Singapore organizations ranging from startups and digital-native companies to large enterprises and public-sector bodies.
Singapore Ranks Second Globally for Claude Usage
Singapore has emerged as one of Anthropic’s strongest markets. According to the company’s latest Economic Index, the country ranks second among 121 countries for Claude.ai usage relative to population, with usage 5.81 times higher than expected based on population size. Anthropic said demand has been particularly strong among regulated sectors, including financial services and government.
Anthropic Begins Hiring Across Multiple Roles
Anthropic has started recruiting for its Singapore operations across finance, sales, applied AI, marketing, and economic research. Vulcan Post reported that nine open positions were listed on the company’s website as of September 16. Anthropic has not disclosed how many people it ultimately plans to employ in Singapore, while the final location of the new office has also not been officially confirmed.
Dale Finlay Appointed ASEAN General Manager
The company has appointed Dale Finlay as General Manager of ASEAN, with Finlay based in Singapore and responsible for working with customers and partners across the region. He previously spent nearly a decade at Google Cloud in go-to-market leadership roles covering enterprise customers, financial services, and artificial intelligence across Asia-Pacific. Finlay said trust remains a major consideration for Southeast Asian businesses adopting AI.
Office Strengthens Anthropic’s Regional Presence
Anthropic Managing Director of International Chris Ciauri described the Singapore office as a natural next step because Claude usage per capita is among the highest in the world. He said having a local presence would allow Anthropic to hire people familiar with the market and work directly with customers and partners using Claude. Senior Anthropic leaders are also expected to visit Singapore for the office opening and meetings with customers, partners, and policymakers.
Anthropic’s Singapore expansion gives the company a permanent base in one of its most active Claude markets while creating new local roles across several business and technical functions. For Singaporeans, the opening brings additional AI employment opportunities and direct access to Anthropic’s regional team. Neither report announced Indonesia-specific hiring, but Anthropic’s new ASEAN leadership in Singapore will work with customers and partners across Southeast Asia.
