Body dumped in dark Ketereh field as police probe brutal killing under murder statute.
Malaysian police are investigating a suspected murder in Ketereh, Kelantan, after a woman’s body bearing 61 stab wounds was discovered in a secluded paddy field in the early hours of the morning.
Body Found In Dark Paddy Field
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said officers received a call from the public at about 12.30 am regarding a body in a paddy field at Kampung Simah, Ketereh. The location was described as a dark area with no street lighting, about 47 meters from the nearest house. The case has been classified as murder and is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
Forensic Findings Point To Extreme Violence
A preliminary examination by the police forensic team found 61 stab wounds across the victim’s body, from her face down to her legs. Most of the injuries were concentrated on the right side. Investigators believe the woman was killed at another location before her body was dumped in the field, suggesting an attempt to conceal the crime scene and delay identification.
K9 Search And Evidence Collected
Following the discovery, the police K9 Unit conducted detection operations within a radius of about 30 meters around the paddy field. Items recovered at the scene included a pair of glasses and a light purple shawl. The victim was wearing a black long-sleeved top and black trousers, along with a necklace inscribed with “SYAA,” a bracelet on her left wrist and a ring on the middle finger of her right hand, details that may assist in witness recall.
Victim Identified Through Fingerprints
No identification documents were found on the body at the time of discovery. The victim’s remains were taken to the Forensic Department of Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital for a post-mortem. Mohd Yusoff later confirmed that her identity was established through fingerprint verification conducted by the National Registration Department, although her name has not been publicly released pending notification of next of kin.
Public Help Sought In Murder Probe
Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity near the paddy field or who recognizes the description of the victim and items found at the scene. Members of the public with relevant details are urged to contact investigating officer ASP Ganesan at 012-5691204. For Indonesians and Singaporeans, the case underscores shared regional concerns about violent crime in semi-rural areas and the importance of community cooperation with law enforcement in bringing perpetrators to justice.
The discovery of a woman with 61 stab wounds in a Kelantan paddy field highlights the brutality that can occur far from city centers and the investigative challenges when bodies are dumped in remote locations. For Indonesians and Singaporeans, the case is a stark reminder of the need for strong forensic capabilities, cross-agency coordination and public vigilance to support police in solving serious violent crimes and maintaining trust in community safety across the region.
