Authorities urge calm as flight disruptions impact travel to and from Saudi Arabia

The Indonesian government is monitoring 58,873 umrah pilgrims in Saudi Arabia as escalating tensions in the Middle East disrupt regional flight schedules.

Government Tracking Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia
The government said it is closely monitoring 58,873 Indonesian umrah pilgrims currently in Saudi Arabia. The move follows heightened security concerns after regional military escalation.

Puji Raharjo, Director General of Hajj and Umrah Implementation, said authorities are actively tracking developments to ensure pilgrims’ safety.

Advisory for Pilgrims to Stay Calm
Officials urged pilgrims not to panic and to maintain communication with their registered travel organizers. Pilgrims were advised to rely only on official and verified updates.

“We advise all umrah pilgrims to remain calm and stay in contact with their travel organizers for accurate information,” Puji said in a statement.

Flight Adjustments and Delays
Several airlines have adjusted routes and delayed flights as a precaution amid rising tensions. The disruptions may affect pilgrims currently in Saudi Arabia as well as those in Indonesia awaiting departure.

Authorities said they are working to minimize disruptions and respond quickly to any changes affecting travel plans.

Coordination With Saudi Authorities
Travel organizers have been instructed to coordinate closely with the Indonesian Hajj Office (KUH), the Consulate General in Jeddah and the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah said it continues to collaborate with both domestic and Saudi authorities to prioritize the safety and security of Indonesian pilgrims.

Families Urged to Avoid Misinformation
The government also called on families in Indonesia to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. Officials emphasized the importance of relying on official communication channels.

Regional tensions intensified following reports of joint US-Israeli military action targeting Iran and subsequent retaliatory strikes, raising security concerns across parts of the Middle East.

With tens of thousands of Indonesian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, authorities are maintaining close coordination to manage potential travel disruptions. Officials stress that safety remains the top priority as the regional situation evolves.
